چکیده

Amp C beta-lactamases are a type of cephalosporinase enzymes belonging to Class C of Ambler’s structural classification, while assigned to group 3 in the functional classification scheme of Bush (Ambler, 1980; Bush et al., 1995). These enzymes can be either chromosomal or plasmid encoded conferring resistance to both oxyimino (cefotaxime, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone) and 7-α methoxy cephalosporins (cefoxitin or cefotetan) and are not affected by βlactamase inhibitors (clavulanate, sulbactam, tazobactam) (Phillipon et al., 2002). Plasmid mediated Amp C βlactamases are not International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 6 Number 2 (2017) pp. 1665-1672 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

Phenotypic Identification and Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern of AmpC beta-Lactamase Producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections from a Tertiary Care Hospital of Rawalpindi, Pakistan

Introduction: This study is aimed to compare phenotypic test methods and determine antibiotic susceptibility pattern of AmpC beta-lactamase producing uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in clinical isolates. Method: E. coli and K. pneumoniae were identified by standard microbiological procedures. Screening of AmpC beta-lactamase production was done by using cefoxitin disc (...

AmpC β lactamases in Urinary Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates: First Report of ACC Type AmpC β-lactamase Resistance in Iran

Background & Objective: The production of plasmid-mediated AmpC beta-lactamases (PMABLs) among urinary Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates causes a severe problem to the successful treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs). This study was designed to evaluate antimicrobial resistance, the presence of AmpC beta-lactamase genes, and the genetic relatedness among K. pneumoniae strains separated from...

Spread of a Klebsiella pneumoniae strain producing a plasmid-mediated ACC-1 AmpC beta-lactamase in a teaching hospital admitting disabled patients.

We describe a large outbreak involving a Klebsiella pneumoniae strain producing a plasmid-encoded ACC-1 type AmpC beta-lactamase in a hospital caring for patients with motor impairment. The epidemic strain was isolated from 57 patients in six wards between September 1999 and May 2003 and caused clinical infections in 19 patients.

Ampc Beta Lactamases Among Gram Negative Clinical Isolates From A Tertiary Hospital, South India

AmpC β-lactamases are cephalosporinases that hydrolyze cephamycins as well as other extended-spectrum cephalosporins and are poorly inhibited by clavulanic acid. Although reported with increasing frequency, the true rate of occurrence of AmpC β-lactamases in different organisms, including members of Enterobacteriaceae, remains unknown. The present study was designed to determine the occurrence ...

Plasmid-mediated and inducible cephalosporinase DHA-2 from Klebsiella pneumoniae.

A Klebsiella pneumoniae strain resistant to cefoxitin and oxyimino-cephalosporins was cultured from a child hospitalized in Paris, France, in 1992. This isolate harboured a beta-lactamase gene located on an approximately 200 kb non-self-transferable plasmid. The beta-lactamase identified, DHA-2, shared 99% amino acid identity with the AmpC enzyme of Morganella morganii. DHA-2 was a point-mutant...
